The Underground Deli is a small business located in New Britain, Connecticut. They offer a variety of sandwiches that come with a homemade side of your choice.
I stopped in earlier this week to evaluate the business and their marketing techniques. I found the location by using their Yelp page. I was surprised to see that a small business in a relatively small town had received 52 very detailed reviews with 4.5 stars.
More than half of the reviews (30) offer pictures and paragraphs on how they felt about the food and atmosphere. I feel that Underground Deli's Yelp page will be very successful in bringing customers into their restaurant.
The Yelp page also lists the hours, phone number and website for customer accessibility. The page goes on to mention that they have gender neutral bathrooms, accept credit cards and offer free WIFI.
The Underground Deli's Yelp page is full of credible sources as most customers have profile pictures. The page is claimed by the owner.
Not only was I curious about their Yelp presence, I also wanted to see how much presence they had on Facebook. As I searched their name, the deli instantly popped up. They have a cover photo and a profile picture. Their page includes many photos of the employees together having fun. A employee Halloween picture caught my eye as you could tell their smiles were genuine.
The Underground Deli's brand loyalty can be seen in their reviews. People say that they truly feel welcome and friends with the workers. The social media page for the Underground Deli has a rating of 4.9 stars. There are 69 reviews with the most recent as of last week. Their earliest review is from 2012. The page offers a call now button along with the location and hours of the store. The page has 958 likes.
One user wrote, "Love the staff, love the food, love the environment".
The Underground Deli follows the consumer purchase process as it increases awareness by posting content monthly. I feel that they should try to post weekly to encourage more customers to keep coming back.
The deli also influences desire in others by posting pictures on Facebook of their sandwiches to get people hungry and interested. They do not currently offer samples but I think this would be a good thing to add to improve their consumer purchase process.
The Underground Deli has a great marketing differentiation as it is the only place in its plaza that offers deli sandwiches. They really take pride in the fact that they have an X-Box and a couch in the back for people to hang out. The Underground Deli unlike most other restaurants offers over 50 combinations of sandwiches.
I think the Underground Deli's Facebook page is very appealing as it is update, filled with positive reviews and seems very welcoming. The page is typically known to reply within an hour which I believe is very good for a small restaurant with three to four workers. The Underground Deli likes or replies to every review, whether it's good or bad and I respect that.
If you are ever in the area of New Britain, CT, go and check out the Underground Deli!
